May 20 Connor hey Brian I've been homeless off and on since 17 or 18 years old plight it is indeed a looming doom is how I describe it something on the edge is of sight that whispers soon and not in reference to anything sweet and yet it sounds sweetest over the course of time for some like the ones depicted in your paintings at least aesthetically what you see is better than their rent free home for them because nothing is free the cost is paid in will to live as some homes are deceptive prisons that once prying eyes move on drop their facade strangeness becomes commonplace and then flipped to see normal as strange there's a freedom though maybe it's a freedom those raised in a loving home had all along it's a hard existence I haven't fully broken through I'm sure it's actually impossible I have an ownership to it though I don't want to be saved I have found enjoyment in the doom and looking up at the ones who claim to want to help I don't want them to feel like they helped me they can't give me my childhood they're naive to think anything but my necessities being met without question without doling out indebtedness could be enough help to not need more (heart symbol :-) cheers Brian good art

May 22 Michele I read Connor's comments I agree that we view homelessness differently because we have never experienced it the artwork is profound and disturbing I often wonder the how and why what lives led those who settle on the streets to get there somehow I think in certain situations anyone could become homeless how easy to recover from being in a homeless situation maybe depends on the why you are there the artwork is a reminder homeless people should not be thought of as invisible appreciate Brian Higgins chose to see them
Joy G well done

May 30 Corey Enid, OK just visiting this amazing city we/I have seen the unhoused here and in my city too
Haidy urban reality enjoyed
Rain these hit extremely close to home growing up I was homeschooled and unaware of the struggles going on in my own community when I was around 8 my mother developed schizophrenia and became homeless with my brother and I for some time I am long gone past these struggles and I'm aware how lucky I am to be able to live my life without having to worry about taking showers what I'm going to eat that day or what people see when there is a single mother with two young children sleeping on the street living like that changes how you see society why is it so hard to show kindness to those less fortunate do they not see the unhoused as human beings too that's why I help the less fortunate whenever possible God can easily strip you from your blessings just as it happened to those you judge so harshly so why not instead open your eyes and show a little kindness a little help goes a long way Mark 14:7 (cross symbol)
