Well, it's good to be back after so many years. I have tried a number of blog templates and Blogger is my favorite. My goals change and this new direction suits me as well.
... about Gogol's novel Viy; "The Viy," also known as "Viy," is a horror novella by Nikolai Gogol, first published in 1835 as part of his collection Mirgorod. Despite an author's note suggesting folklore inspiration, the titular Viy is generally considered Gogol's invention. It is described as the chief of gnomes with an iron face, root-like limbs, and eyelids that reach the ground In the novella, three seminary students—Khoma Brut, a philosopher; Tiberiy Gorobets, a rhetorician; and Khaliava, a kleptomaniac theologian—travel home during summer vacation. They seek shelter in a remote area and encounter an old woman who reluctantly allows them to stay in her small room A film adaptation titled "Gogol. Viy" was released in 2018, directed by Egor Baranov. This fantasy-horror film is a sequel to "Gogol. The Beginning," and it explores the mysterious circumstances surrounding Nikolai Gogol's birth and his connection to the supernatural...
According to the 2020 Census, the population of the entire Las Vegas, Henderson, and Paradise, Nevada Metropolitan Statistical Area was 2,811,488. To put that in perspective, the same Census counted 3,104,614 for the entire State of Nevada. When I do the arithmetic, I find that Las Vegas accounts for fully 90.5% of the total population of the State of Nevada. Without troubling to look-up the official size of the physical area of urban sprawl known universally as Las Vegas, to any observer a mass-density dynamic should be obvious. Nevada is not the American state with the lowest population. Nevada ranked #32 on the list for 2020. Again (for perspective), that means the Metropolitan Las Vegas Area's population is larger than that of the entire State of New Mexico (which ranks #36.) The population of Las Vegas is also larger, in turn, than each of the next 13 States on the list. The population of Greater Las Vegas is larger than the combined 2020 populations of Alaska (733,406), Distr...
>what are the implications for art of kire, the Japanese word cut The concept of kire, or "cut" in Japanese aesthetics, has significant implications for art by emphasizing the importance of interruption and continuity. In poetry, particularly Haiku, kireji, or cutting words, are used to separate and link images, creating a juxtaposition that highlights the transient nature of life. This is also seen in traditional arts like flower arrangement (ikebana) and Nõ drama, where the cut-continuation (kire-tsuzuki) structure is used to draw attention to the episodic and impermanent aspects of existence. In contemporary times, the structure of kire serves as an antidote to the uniformity and functionality of modern life, preserving plurality and difference in artistic expression. Kire is written åˆ‡ă‚Œ in Japanese. In the context of Japanese aesthetics, kire has significant implications for art, particularly in the areas of poetry, drama, and visual arts. Kire is seen in the juxtaposit...
